Gateway

The Gateway, which is the first point of contact for all enquiries into SWROCU, is part of the Regional Intelligence Unit. We can talk you through the process for any tasking requests you make, whether you are looking for advice, assistance or full adoption of an investigation.


Our services

The Gateway:

  • offers advice on all ROCU capabilities and help to find the ones best suited to your operation or investigation
  • can advise and assist and review operations and intel if full adoption of an investigation is required
  • conducts de-confliction checks against all five forces in the region and request deconfliction in other regions
  • can process, cleanse and rebadge sensitive intelligence to protect covert sources and tactics
  • makes tasking requests for any CHIS asset in a different force area or organisation
  • coordinates submissions to Europol via the SIENA system
  • coordinates ‘Fast Parcel’ activity (the response to items seized by Border Force, including drugs, firearms and offensive weapons)
  • manages the dissemination of National Crime Agency (NCA) intelligence packages to forces
  • liaises with the national Federated Tasking Team for the transfer of risk and to provide access to other specialist capabilities of partners, such as the NCA
  • maintains an overview of SOC demand in the ROCU and five forces and as subject matter experts, provide guidance and advice of ROCU capabilities
  • are a conduit for the flow of information and intelligence in and out of the SWROCU

The Regional Intelligence Unit is available:

  • Monday to Friday 08:00 – 22:00
  • Weekends 08:00 – 16:30

For complex or resource-intensive requests, or requests for sensitive tactics, you will be asked to complete the BID Capability Form. Please refer to the Tasking Procedural Guidance about this process.

For urgent, out-of-hours enquires, call 01278 647 299 and the number will divert to the on-call SWROCU officer.
