Why work for us

Working at SWROCU, you'll work with forces and partner agencies at a regional, national, and international level. You'll be at the front of the fight against serious and organised crime, which is one of the greatest threats facing region today.

With more than 20 capabilities at SWROCU, we have a whole range of opportunities on offer. Here, people doing some of those roles talk about what it’s like working for our Unit.

  • John, Money Laundering Investigation Team

    John initially thought he lacked the experience to join SWROCU, but his skills honed as a detective proved to be a perfect fit and he hasn’t looked back.

  • Sarah, Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT)

    Sarah joined the PECT following an 11-year career as a detective with a Midlands-based force. Sarah was drawn to the role with SWROCU after finding out that location was not a barrier.

  • Andy, Technical Development Unit

    Andy spent 16 years working in one of the five regional forces before joining SWROCU, where the training and development opportunities keep him ahead of the game as a detective in the Technical Development Unit.

  • Erin, Money Laundering Investigation Team

    Working condensed hours over a set number of days was a real “game-changer” for Erin, who values the work-life balance that comes with her role investigating money laundering.

  • Mark, Operations Team

    Mark works within one of our Operations Teams, where he’s taken advantage of the many opportunities to develop his skillset.

    Having transferable skills, a technical interest, and a can-do attitude enabled Jack to carve out a successful career in the Technical Surveillance Unit (TSU).

    Lisa joined SWROCU in September 2022 as a Resourcing Coordinator – a role within the Business Team. But she was quickly promoted into a more senior role.
